This is not Guy Kewney… repeat… NOT Guy Kewney. However that doesn’t stop the mighty BBC making a huge balls up by wheeling him onto BBC News…. live. Yes, live. How did he get on air? Well, the BBC were doing a news story revolving around Apple and The Beatles’ record label, who are also called Apple. This guy, who is actually a taxi driver who was waiting for Guy Kewney to finish his interview so he could drive him home, simply replied “Yes” when a floor manager ran into reception shouting, “Guy Kewney?”
The taxi driver, thinking he was being asked if he’d come to pick up Guy, followed the floor manager and got plopped in front of the cameras. Amazingly, and to his credit, he managed to bluff his way all the way through his interview even with his strong French accent.
His face is absolutely priceless when he’s introduced by the news reader. This is sheer class…
Watch as the newsreader gets fed information into her ear at the end of the interview which – it seems – makes her realise she’s just interviewed the wrong guy. Even better is the fact that the next guy actually agrees with Mr Taxi man on several points…
