Are you having problems getting to certain websites today? Well, it looks like PSINet are having some severe problems. Everything seems to be offline – their name servers aren’t responding and they’ve been offline for about 4 hours solid now.
The company itself is owned Cogent Communications – which has a terrible reputation in the industry. This is due, mainly, because they offer cheap bandwidth which attracts spammers, porn merchants and others. Latency and down-time is common, as is the odd clumsy and – often huge mustake.
Today natwest.com, sky.com and other high-profile websites are completely offline – all use PSI.net name servers which are failing or disconnected as I type. The results you see in this image are from DNS Stuff.
