Knight Rider is BACK!

Woha!!! Look what’s about to return to our screens! Yes, it’s Knight Rider. The mighty Hoff is sadly not part of it any longer though. A lot of my childhood was probably spent watching the original series, with the infamous talking car (KITT) and Michael Knight talking into his watch. The Wikipedia page is surprisingly detailed – the original series went out from 1982 to 1986, although towards the end things were getting desperate as less “real” cars were being used and more scaled models and camera trickery was instead brought in to achieve the “wow” factor.

Hmm.. perhaps I did watch it a little too much. :) Does anyone remember that last series where KITT had small wings to push his speed up to around 300+mph? It seemed OK until you saw the speeded-up footage, with other cars seemingly doing about 240mph around the black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

Say what you will about this programme, it was classic TV. The title sequence and music is TV gold….

That’s a bit good isn’t it eh?!?!?! :)

“Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.”

This guy (right) is the new Michael Knight. NBC are bringing the programme back with a new KITT – a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR. This was reviewed in Top Gear – below..

Let’s hope the new Michael Knight doesn’t depend too much on that solid rear axle eh? Ooohh.. old school!
