Disorientated or Disoriented ?

I’m going to blog this because it’s driven me nuts and for some reason there’s only a small bit about it on the web.

Here in the UK, if I spin around on the spot then I’ll become disorientated.

If I’m in the US, I’m disoriented.

Meh. It’s like aluminium and aluminum all over again. I thought I was going nuts when I kept hearing the Americans saying, “oriented” – I was sure it was supposed to be “orientated”. Indeed it is, the two words are ever-so-slightly different either side of the Atlantic. :)
