There’s a number of properties getting solar panels in our area. I’m assuming that they produce electricity which gets used in the home and it seems to be increasingly popular since the Government started pushing it.
In Cyprus they also have solar panels, but these appear to produce hot water instead of electric. The tanks on top appear to store the hot water after it’s warmed in the sun and, believe me, it’s hot.
There’s wind farms on the island but I don’t see many solar panels for generating electric. This is what confuses me. Why is it that in the UK, where the weather is rubbish for most of the time, we have panels popping up on the tops of houses, but in Cyprus, where it’s sunny pretty much all the time, they’re not as predominant?
