I’m not a big fan of these now, but I was once. I remember when I was a kid that I’d get interested in certainly weekly magazines with bits of kit attached to the front – it could be lego or another type of construction kit. Buy enough magazines each week, put it all together and you get to create a toy or gadget.
However, now I’m all grown up I’m seeing it slightly differently. Take, for example The Art of Quilting magazine. Each week you get a patchwork block and make a quilt step-by-step. Here’s the advert for it..
The first issue, then, is 99p. However, after that it’s £3.99 every week. It might not seem like much, but you need each one so that you can make your complete quilt.
See that? 90 magazines in total. The first one is 99p, then there’s 89 more magazines for £3.99. Add that up. It’s 89 x £3.99 = £355.11. Add on the 99p magazine and it’s £356.10.
£356.10?!
Just buy a bloody quilt !!!
