Today I’ve had a quick play with Google Earth today. It’s pretty cool, although it’s a shame that pretty much everywhere outside the US doesn’t have magificently-hi-res pictures. The interface itself is excellent, you can grab the globe, spin it round, zoom in quickly and easily and find roads and pubs within seconds. Plus of course, it’s free. Very nice. Here’s some features of it…
– Fly from space to your neighborhood. Type in an address and zoom right in.
– Search for schools, parks, restaurants, and hotels. Get driving directions.
– Tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings.
– Save and share your searches and favorites. Even add your own annotations.
Aside from the techy features, it really is quite cool to be able to float across the world and zoom in on certain sections – especially loading some of these pre-loaded location files which take you directly to a location after installing it. Very nice indeed.
