Curry House

This weekend I went for a curry. I’ll warn you before I even start here that this blog will turn into a “restaurant review” like you’d see at the back of your local free newspaper when a reporter takes his secretary out and blags a free meal.

I haven’t had a curry for a good while, however we were out for my dads birthday so me and the missus went up to the Balti house they’d picked. We arrived outside the newly-refurbished Dilshad Tandoori Indian Restaurant in sunny Chadsmoor, Cannock (I’m not going to say a word about Chadsmoor) and was greeted by the very welcoming manager. Actually… while I’m blogging about this, I’d like to just put a “plea” out to all the companies, restaurants and shops around the UK. Get yourself a website will you?! Most companies just don’t have one at all, and with the cost of hosting becoming cheaper by the day, it’s just daft not to have a presence on t’interweb!

So anyway, although they don’t have a website, you can find them here. Although it’s a fairly … errmm.. “compact” restaurant, the service is quick and friendly. The new look of the place is better too. The last time I was in there it was very 1970’s – warbling music and tables divided up. Now however, we have modern artwork, a fresh paint job, wood flooring and Kenny G piped through the speakers. I had a Chicken Dopiaza with some Egg Fried rice. It tasted good and didn’t burn my mouth off (which is a good thing), plus the four or five pints of Cobra went down a treat. To be honest the meal itself was fine and I don’t have much that interesting to say .. however…

What is it about the next day.. the next two days even ? Every burp, every fart, every pore on your body just smells of Chicken Dopiaza … still warm.. just a little stale. I think the wallpaper in our bedroom has started to peel off by itself because of the pong. I could still smell it on Monday morning. Why ? Why why why? Isn’t there some removal fluid you can take ? I know I’m not the only one, and I know that the Indian guys running the restaurant must have a way of fixing it, because when we walked into the restaurant it didn’t smell that way. So .. Come on…
