XBox 360 Hysteria causes ebay problems!

Ohhh dear…

We’ve already mentioned the serious money that is to be made on eBay if you’ve got an XBox 360 to sell. It looks like people have decided to take advantage of the “I must get an XBox for my son for Christmas” hysteria.

First there’s this auction, selling two email addresses – free ones too! Unfortunately due to the way it’s worded people could easily think they were bidding on an ACTUAL XBox 360. Winning bid ? 481 quid.. sold to some poor muppet with a rating of “1”. A seller called 3684joanne decided to jump on the bandwagon and make some easy cash for Christmas.

Also in this Register article there’s this other auction, which shows just how careful you have to be at times. This ebayer, who – like the previous trickster – has a fairly high feedback score in both buying AND selling, decided to make a mint by listing a PICTURE of an XBox 360. The blurb in the auction is so long and confusing. It’s only if you manage to get to the last sentance when you find the truth…

Winning bid ? 470!!!

Alternatively, the Core System bundle has a standard wired controller and no hard drive. Which option is right for you will depend largely on your gaming needs–are you a fan of downloadable content? Do controller wires upset the feng shui of your living room? There are pros and cons for each option: for instance, if you do plump for the Core System you will have to buy a separate memory unit if you want to save your games. Likewise, if you opt for the deluxe version you will need a steady supply of AA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack to power the wireless controller. The Xbox 360 is only backwards compatible with a limited number of original Xbox titles, and a hard drive is required for this function.
