If we’re honest with each other then we’ll all admit to exceeding the 70mph limit on motorways. I don’t know anyone (other than truck drivers) who keep under the limit at all times, and that shows daily when I get overtaken on the M6. Sure, there’s people doing 75mph, 80, 85, 90 and probably a lot doing 95mph too.
You’ll not find many people doing 172mph though. Meet Tim Brady, he flew past a police car doing 172mph on the A420 near Abingdon. He decided to put his foot down in a Porsche 911 Turbo he’d “borrowed” from the car leasing company he worked for at the time. The police were at the side of the road dealing with another motorist who’d been doing 115mph when he shot past. When he got stopped he was reported as saying, “”Oh s***, oh s***, I’ve lost my job”, and indeed resigned from his job a few days later.
The price for doing 172mph in a 70mph zone? 10 weeks with a three year ban and a 474 bill for costs. Oooooffffffffffff……….
