Birmingham to London in 30 minutes?

Current Pendolino trains are restricted to 125mph from Birmingham International train station, where I sometimes travel to London from. It means that the journey is about 1 hour 20 minutes. Railtrack was supposed to make the line capable of 140mph but due to constant Government and cost fuck ups it ended up being a 125mph limit.

Anyhow, in Japan they’ve got a maglev train that’ll do over 311mph. That’d get you from Birmingham to London in 30 minutes if my maths are right. Pretty amazing. Why aren’t we considering this technology for HS2 eh?
