Customer service in the UK

If you’re following my tweets you may have recently read about my rather poor experience at Frankie and Bennys in Stafford. The staff didn’t acknowledge us, no-one took our order, when I complained someone eventually came over, took the food order and then didn’t ask whether we’d like drinks. It was all topped off with a near 2 hour wait… Read more →

Adverts have gone.. mental…

There’s so many rules and regulations surround TV advertising that it’s almost stopping companies telling you to try the product. Advertising agencies appear to have gone for sheer insanity instead, as these ads show… [yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHB1O2j6BoQ’] [yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCKgCkubGc0′] [yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk4U2uJuFAI’] Oh, and I’m going to be ultra-geeky here, but as an example of how things have changed, check this old… Read more →

Creative parking

We went to the Lichfield Bower today. It was pretty rubbish weather but, due to the size of the event and how popular it is, there was the usual parking “fun”. Now, I’m usually up for “creating” spaces in car-parks when they run out, but this guy really takes the biscuit.. :) Read more →

Paypal phishing

I’m sure you’ve seen these mails. This one came through today and has the usual bad punctuation, grammar and spelling. However, there’s a certain amount of honest in the “from” address… :) Read more →

Cheap flights, only 50p!

These girls came to my attention recently. They’ve done a song about those infamous 50p flights from the likes of EasyJet and Ryan Air. You can get their DVD from www.fascinatingaida.co.uk Thanks to our lovely receptionist for telling me to watch this :) [yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAg0lUYHHFc’] Read more →

Sometimes I hate cash machines

If there’s one thing I hate about cash machines it’s this. Not all of them do it, but a few do.. – Hello Mr. Customer, please insert your card. – Thanks, Mr Customer. Now, enter your PIN. – Thanks. Would you like to top-up your phone ? – OK, what service would you like ? Cash, cash with a receipt,… Read more →

The Mail Rail

You probably never knew it existed, but there’s another underground railway in London. It doesn’t carry people, it carries post. At least, it did. It was shut down in 2003 after costing too much to run. 6 miles of track now lie unused with most of the access points secured. A group of people managed to break in recently and… Read more →

The Royal Wedding

An absolutely fantastic day today. There’s many who support the Royals, many who don’t. Prince William added his own spin onto the events and it certainly made Britain look fantastic. Here though is one picture taken which should raise a smile, no matter what your opinion on the Monarchy… :) Read more →

I wanna Bigtrak !!

Oooo…. this takes me back. I always wanted a Bigtrak when I was a kid. Now they’re in a sale, down to just £20.99 ! Must resist…. :) This was my first taste of programming I guess. I did “Logo” at school shortly after seeing this toy and I think it’s a similar concept. You get to tell the Bigtrak… Read more →

A crazed Royal fan..

This guy bagged his spot for the Royal Wedding last night. His name is John Loughrey and you can see him waiting for Wills and Kate. He’s a fully-fledged nut-job by the look of it. Here he is again in 2008 with “Diana” written on his face, and he’s here in 2007 (picture 11). He aappeared back in 2004 too.… Read more →

I know I keep moaning about fuel prices but..

I use Diesel. When the Budget was announced it cost £1.41 per litre at my local garage. The government reduced the fuel duty by a penny, making it £1.40. This morning it’s £1.48 per litre – that’s only a month since the budget. It’s gone up more than a penny per week. At this rate it will be £2 per… Read more →
