It shocks me how different countries can get sucked in by their local media. Browsing around the other day I saw an advert targetting American audiences which touted “fantastic efficiency” and “the best gas mileage around”. It showed a vehicle (I forget which one) giving 35mpg on the highway. That, I’m afraid, is crap. 35mpg extra-urban? Are you having a… Read more →

I’m still loving the Daily Mash :)
I’m still loving TheDailyMash. With Britain suffering days and days of constant rain everyone is starting to feel a little miserable as the summer garden furniture is sold off cheap and people begin to realise that they might not see the sunshine again for a good few weeks.. just as Autumn hits.. Anyhoo, here’s a good mickey-take at our Olympic… Read more →
Computer graphics get too real..
This is Emily. She might look pretty nice but she’s actually not real. This is a new type of technolofy which will be finding its’ way into computer games before you know it. Tiny details of a facial expression can be captured and recreated on the character. Now, whilst us “geeks” may be able to tell the tiny give-aways this… Read more →
Live Traffic Camera pictures in the UK
Whoa! How can I have only just found this? I’ve just been looking to travel information on the net and found this local BBC site showing all the traffic cameras on the motorway. Useful or what!? :) Link – BBC.co.uk Read more →
Yar! I’m ready to build yee a house!
My nephew will be having his pirate-themed birthday party soon, so we went out and got all the pirate stuff we could, including these pirate hats. However, if you take a look on the inside you’ll notice one of those health and safety warnings that keep appearing on things due to insane idiots trying to sue the relevant companies. Why… Read more →
Some links and videos for your weekend
A mixed bag of links today from my inbox. First up is this Westwood video. For those who don’t know, Tim is a DJ on Radio 1 here in the UK. I’m not sure where he gets his distinctive voice from… Your challenge is to see how long you can watch this before stopping the video. I’ve never seen people… Read more →
The 2008 Olympics..
I’m not heavily into the Olympics, but I checked in with the coverage here in the UK. You can choose which event of sport you’d like to watch, and here’s the options available this morning. Can you guess which one I chose? Yes.. I’m a bloke, so I checked out the beach volleyball. I don’t know if Switzerland won… in… Read more →
Concrete proof that the world has gone insane
Seriously. What. The. Flying. F***. We went to the local “Pets at Home” shop and saw these…. You put your dog (or cat, gerbil, rabbit whatever) in there.. And walk around… Pink for a girl and blue for boy… No, I’m not kidding. Here’s the link to the online shop, where you can buy them for a mere 30. I… Read more →
The best video on the internet – ever, ever, ever
Ok, as usual I’ve robbed some rather excellent links from the b3ta.com. First is this offer – ideal for your summer barbeque. It’s meat.. in a box. Yep. Meat…. in a box. In fact, it’s meat in a toolbox. Weird huh ? Next is perhaps the funniest video in the world. Put everything down. Just turn up the volume and… Read more →
Police show just how stupid some people are
Avon and Somerset Police have recently taken the rather bold step of placing time-wasting 999 calls onto YouTube. The calls, which involve people asking for help with questionnaires or trying to find their glasses, waste the valuable time of operators who could be dealing with real emergencies. Here in the UK 999 is the designated emergency number, although in other… Read more →
HTC Touch Dual on TV
On TV tonight I spotted a HTC Touch Dual on “Harley Street”. I’m not entirely sure what the show was about or whether it was any good, apart from the fact that it obviously has some sort of medical theme. Anyhow, the HTC Touch Dual got a fairly large part.. Read more →
Pirate radio on the internet
I’ve blogged some time back about the various pirate radio stations that pop up around my area. They usually blast out with a stronger signal than most local “legal” stations and have some rather excellent tunes with… slightly less excellent DJ’s and technical equipment :) I’ve just stumbled across this list of pirate streams available on the web – my… Read more →
Something strange about Crocodile Dundee II
So … I was watching Crocodile Dundee 2 the other night. There wasn’t much else on and, to be honest, it’s a “not bad” film. However, just as I stood up to turn off the TV, I noticed a rather strange name in the credits.. Click for bigger picture Read more →
Everything on TV is rubbish at the moment
What the flying cock is going on with TV at the moment? There’s constant arse on every night and it’s getting on my nerves. Last night was “Marco’s Great British Feast” where a guy, who is a chef, is challenged to make some food for people. Wait though, ‘cus there’s a twist… he has to find the greatest British grub… Read more →
US Mortgage lenders sink due to stupid names
Further evidence that the economy in the US is totally screwed came yesterday as two huge financial institutions revealed their names. Mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac admitted that they had utterly stupid names and deserved everything they got. Fannie and Freddie are now seeing their share prices drop as investors gradually realise that they should have chosen something… Read more →

People in queues annoy me
Grrr.. Why is it that when I go into a shop of late I’m always stuck behind some muppet in the queue ? On Wednesday I popped into Sainsburys to get some baby milk, but somehow I managed to get stuck behind a guy who wanted to pay for his shopping using the exact change. I hate these people, especially… Read more →
Some websites…
When we carry a story, and we’re the only site to do so, certain other sites seem to ignore where they saw it and instead link to the page we found. Take, for example, some random and hard-to-find link tucked away that our readers found. Certain other sites will also “find it” within 30 minutes of us publishing it and… Read more →
The website is down
This is the second time someone has emailed and pointed me to thewebsiteisdown.com. The first time I watched it I tuned out after about 2 minutes, however if you stick with it then it’s well worth the wait. It’s a day in the life of some techies and, unfortunately, it’s all too close to reality ;) Link – thewebsiteisdown.com Read more →
Car love…
Here’s a picture of some car-love from Belfast. The driver of this Lexus apparently dropped it into “Drive” instead of reverse and somehow mounted a pavement, drove across it and then half-way up this Toyota and Porsche before realising that she wasn’t going backwards. Hmm… I’m saying nothing about women drivers, but the pictures are certainly worth a look :)… Read more →
A multi-million pound art gallery… in..
Here it is, the largest community arts development in Europe. It’s called “The Public” and will house a wide variety of activities including an interactive art experience, spaces for family learning, arts projects, concerts, parties and gigs. But…. It’s in West Brom…. West Bromwich! Read more →
