npower – Still completely useless and can’t add up

I mentioned my experience with the utter chaotic mess that is the billing department of npower some months ago. You can read all about it here, here and here. In the end, after spending several hours to their “executive complaints team” and their normal “complaints team” I was told a catalogue of lies. They included.. “The IT systems are being… Read more →

The big problem for our Chancellor

We’ve got an even bigger deficit than ever. There’s a number of reasons, but despite the economy doing better and despite net migration increasing, tax revenues haven’t increased as expected. Why? Well, projections (I think) are and have been a little too optimistic. Also,if you ask me, the near quarter-of-a-million immigrants have simply taken the jobs that a lot of… Read more →

Sweet Lord Almighty. What the hell is this?

This card is confirmed as genuine. It’s in the press and everything. At what point did Tony Blair look at the resulting image and go… Yeah, that’s fine, we look great in that shot. I look totally comfortable. It looks like someone has just trod on your foot Tony. Or perhaps you’ve stubbed your toe and the photographer had to… Read more →

Here’s that nutter I blogged about earlier

This time, the full video. Of course, after a major accident (and one that was totally your own doing), the first thing you’re going to do is just carry straight on as if nothing had happened. Yeah… So anyway, after “the incident” you should probably skip on to about 2.38, where the truck (who seems to like sitting in lane… Read more →

America ! F**K YEAH!

Part of me shakes my head at this, and part of me wishes I had a back garden and tree big enough to accomplish it so that I could perhaps try it myself…. :) Yes, I know it’s filmed the wrong way around, but let’s not get into a discussion about the intelligence of the person filming this or his… Read more →

Why are people voting UKIP?

The Rochester and Strood by-election has resulted in another UKIP MP in Parliament. But why are people voting UKIP? Some ridicule their policies, others laugh at their constant “rogue MPs” and they can sometimes make huge mistakes. But, what seems to be more apparent is the fact that the lack of real choice in the UK. Whether true or not,… Read more →

See, this is why Brad married Angelina

That’s a bit cool. I hear this said around Stoke quite a bit too (in fact, everything is “Duck” pretty much). Good to hear a Hollywood celeb saying it, even if she did confuse most of the audience. :) Here’s the BBC News story about it or you can just watch the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyRs046SNKA Read more →

Birmingham to London in 30 minutes?

Current Pendolino trains are restricted to 125mph from Birmingham International train station, where I sometimes travel to London from. It means that the journey is about 1 hour 20 minutes. Railtrack was supposed to make the line capable of 140mph but due to constant Government and cost fuck ups it ended up being a 125mph limit. Anyhow, in Japan they’ve… Read more →

Our claim culture gets on my baps

I’ve just had a call from 01202 280121. The guy on the line told me he was calling from “Consumer Exchange” but I already had doubts about the call as I could here laughter and banter in the background. This sounded like a call centre rammed full of sales people. He addressed me by name and said he was calling… Read more →

Oh man. My wife is gonna be annoyed

I spotted this whilst cleaning the kitchen last night. It’s the rather expensive Bosch stove we bought a couple of months ago (after the last one completely packed up). It seems that the thing is either rusting or the outer covering is coming off. No idea why :( Read more →

Hey, #Hotpoint. What happened?

Back in the day we used to buy a refrigerator or freezer from Hotpoint because they were a trusted brand. Not only that, but on the front of their fridge freezers you’d see a sticker which proudly stated that the unit was made in Great Britain. Now? Now I doubt you’ll find that on a Hotpoint product. Don’t get me… Read more →
